Akershus Slott is Oslo's medieval castle that squats on a hilltop overlooking the Oslo Fjord. It was built in the late 13th century to protect Oslo. The fortress was first used in battle in 1308 and survived many sieges afterwards.
Nowadays it is a tourist attraction. The light and snow add a fairy tale atmosphere.
